What type of ramp will make the OREO roll the furthest?

SCIENCE PROJECT
The project I am doing is how far an oreo can go being rolled down different types of ramps. What I am going to do is roll an oreo down a ramp made of different things. I learned how to make a good ramp from

The materials are:
· One meter ramp
· Meter stick
· 4 science books
· Science journal and pencil

This website helped me understand my project more by giving me ideas for other materials that would help me make a ramp besides books such as these.
· White boards (double sided)
· Card board
· Blocks
When I am doing my project I am going to collect data to answer my question.
Problem
What type of ramp will make the OREO roll the furthest?


Hypothesis





I think the one with whiteboard will make the OREO go the farthest. I think this because the smooth part of the whiteboard is a little bit slippery. So it will cause the OREO to go the farthest.
Materials

Procedure

RAMP 1
First make sure you have all the materials for your project. Next get the materials for you first ramp. Then build the first ramp by taking the note book and leaning the other note book against the first book and taping them to secure then in place. Then take an oreo and roll it down the ramp. Once the oreo comes to a complete stop go over and measure how far the oreo went. Do this three times. Then record your data and find the average distance the oreo rolls.
RAMP 2
First make sure you have all the materials for your project. Next get the materials for your second ramp. Then build your second ramp by taking the white board and the box and tape them to secure them in place. Then take an oreo and roll it down the ramp. Once the oreo comes to a compete stop go over and measure how far the oreo went. Do this three times. Then record your data and find the average distance the oreo rolls.
RAMP 3
First make sure you have all the materials for your project. Next get the materials for your third ramp. Then build your third ramp by taking the two pieces of card board and tape them to secure them in place. Then take an oreo and roll it down the ramp. Once the oreo comes to a complete stop go over and measure how far the oreo went. Do this three times. Then record your data and find the average distance the oreo rolls.

ANALYZING DATA
Hypothesis Answer
My hypothesis was right. The white board ramp (ramp 2) caused the oreo to roll the farthest. My hypothesis was right because I took what I already knew about white boards and what I knew about oreos and made an educated guess.
Observations
One big observation I made during the experiment was that the oreo swerved as it rolled down the ramp; so when I went to measure the distance I had to measure it a little crooked. Something such as that probably made a big affect on my results.
What I learned
What I found most when I was doing my research was that every web-site I went to told me to use books for my ramp. But when I actually did the experiment I found that the book ramp caused the oreo to go the least farthest. One reason that probably made a difference was that those web-sites that I went to were rolling different things down that type of ramp. So it might be the least best for me, but the best for them.
