Research

To get these types of soap I found a blog were somebody needs a type of soap to get rid of baby food stains. Here are the five responses I chose.

1. Use Zout while washing it in a sink. (If you want to do it the way I did it, you must wash it in a sink only!)

2. Buy Cascade and mix it with water. Then scrub paste on to the stain. Then wash it in a sink.

3. Buy Burt’s Bees Hand Soap (they have a website) and scrub it on the stain while washing in a sink.

4. Use Clorox Wipes and rub it on the stain.

5. Buy Shout. Then rinse the shirt in a sink. Then spray the Shout on the stained area. Then rinse Shout off.

Problem
If you stain a colored shirt with OREO icing, which type of soap will take the stain out the best?
Hypothesis

I think the Cascade paste will work best because on the blog the person who gave the suggestion said it works wonders. I know that the person who gave the suggestion is right because they wouldn’t know how good it works unless they tried it.
Materials

Sink Shout 15 OREOS Cup
Cascade Zout 5 old Colored Shirts Scrub Brush Clorox wipes Burt’s Bees Hand soap Water

Procedure

First, I will start by making three stains on each shirt. (There is a video I made to show exactly how I will make the stain.) I will make the stain by opening the OREO and rubbing the stain on the shirt. Second, I will let the stain sit for 96 hours. (4 days) Third, I will get the scrub brush wet under the faucet and scrub the first stain. Fourth, I will spray two sprays of Zout on. Fifth, I will wait 3 minutes then scrub the Zout away with the wet scrub brush. Sixth, I will make the Cascade paste by mixing water with Cascade. (It’s a powder.) Seventh, I will scrub the paste on with the scrub brush. Eighth, I will scrub the Cascade away with the scrub brush. (Get the Cascade paste off the scrub brush first.) Ninth, I will take the Burt’s Bees Hand Soap and rub some on another stain. Tenth, I will scrub the soap away with the scrub brush. Eleventh, I will scrub another stain with the scrub brush. Twelfth, I will spray two sprays of Shout on the stain. Thirteenth, I will wait 3 minutes then scrub the Shout away with the scrub brush. Fourteenth, I will rub the Clorox Wipes on the on the stain. Then I will see which material worked best. I will repeat this experiment Three times. That is why I will make three stains on each shirt.
Data Collection

Conclusions
It turns out that my Hypothesis is wrong. The Burt’s Bees Hand Soap actually worked best. The Zout and Shout worked pretty well, but it had to sit 3 minutes before you could scrub it. The Cascade Paste (which is what I thought would work best) did well too, but left a lot of matter behind. The Clorox Wipes got rid of the stain but took one minute. The Burt’s Bees Hand Soap worked best because it got rid of the stain completely, it didn’t leave anything behind, and only took 10 seconds to get rid of the stain. That is why Burt’s Bees Hand Soap worked best.
